Rev. Albert James Introduction

Reverend Albert M. James, Ed.D., DRS is a native of Camden, South Carolina, the seventh of ten children born to Deacon and Mrs. Elias James. This ordained and anointed man of God became pastor of Second Providence Baptist Church in May 1981.


Dr. James is a supporter of Providence Baptist Church in Togo, Africa under the leadership of Pastor Theo Gbeblewou, which is an extension of the Second Providence Baptist Church, North Augusta, South Carolina. He is also the president and Chairman of the Board of Directors for Christian Haitian Outreach, Inc., (CHO) in Haiti.

Rev. Dr. Albert M. James Biography

Reverend Albert M. James, Ed.D., DRS is a native of Camden, South Carolina, the seventh of ten children born to Deacon and Mrs. Elias James. This ordained and anointed man of God became pastor of Second Providence Baptist Church in May 1981. When he became of age, he gave his life to Christ and became a member of the Gaines Baptist Church, Camden, SC where he grew in religious values and faith in Jesus Christ. Since giving his life to Christ, Dr. James has been a faithful servant of the Lord.


After moving to Augusta, Georgia, he united with the Greater Mt. Canaan Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher, Bible Study teacher, Chairman of the Board of Deacons, Bus Ministry, Youth Ministry, Choir Member and others. He has always enjoyed serving the Lord and being a blessing to others.


Dr. James was educated in the public schools of Camden, South Carolina where he received his diploma from Jackson High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Benedict College, Columbia, South Carolina; a Master of Education from South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, South Carolina; Doctorate of Educational Administration, Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Doctorate of Religious Studies, Trinity Theological Seminary, Newburg, Indiana; and has done additional graduate studies at Fort Valley State College, Fort Valley, Georgia; Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, Georgia, The University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina, The University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia and Interdenominational theological Seminary, Morehouse College, Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. James worked in the Georgia public school system for thirty years. During this tenure, he served as an elementary teacher, middle and high school assistant principal, elementary principal and principal consultant.


He served as moderator of the Mount Canaan Association, Inc. Trenton, South Carolina (located on the Historical Bettis Campus) from October 2002 to October 2018 (16 yrs.). He is affiliated with the Baptist Education and Missionary Convention of South Carolina where he served as Region Three Vice President under the leadership of Dr. James Blassingame and the National Baptist Convention USA Inc.


Dr. James is a supporter of Providence Baptist Church in Togo, Africa under the leadership of Pastor Theo Gbeblewou which is an extension of the Second Providence Baptist Church, North Augusta, South Carolina. He is also the President and CEO of Christian Haitian Outreach, Inc., in the Carrefour, Haiti area. Mom Eleanor Workman, served as President Emeritus/Founder, since 1974.


Dr. James is married to the Dr. Dorothy K. James. They are the parents of two children, Michael and Melissa (deceased). They are the grandparents of two granddaughters, JaBreia and Jasmine James and a lovely daughter-in- law, Furga.
